Plan Your Trip

PLAN YOUR TRIP

1. Flights to Beijing (Choosing the Right Airport)

  • Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK):
    • Located in the north of the city, which is more convenient for heading to Qinghe Railway Station (approx. 32 km) to catch the high-speed train to Chongli.
    • Ideal for runners who want to minimize travel time within Beijing and get to the race venue quickly.
  • Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX):

    • A newer, “Smart” airport. However, it is located far south of the city center.
    • If you land here, allow at least 1.5 - 2 hours extra to travel across the city to the northern railway stations.

2. Getting from Beijing to Chongli

  • High-Speed Train (Recommended):
    • Travel time is approximately 1 hour 40 minutes.
    • A round-trip ticket costs around 1,000 THB (approx. 200 RMB).
    • Booking: You can book up to 15 days in advance via 12306 China Railway (official app with no booking fees) or Trip.com (small service fee but offers easy English support for changes or refunds).
  • Arrival Stations in Chongli:

    • Chongli Station or Taizicheng Station: Followed by a 30-minute taxi/Didi ride to the venue.
    • Zhangjiakou Station: Followed by a 60-minute taxi/Didi ride to the venue.
  • Taxi / Private Car:

    • A direct drive from Beijing Capital Airport (PEK) takes approximately 3 hours.
  • Bus:

    • Take a bus from Liuliqiao Station to Zhangjiakou, then transfer to Chongli. Total travel time is about 3 - 4 hours.

3. Accommodation in Chongli

  • Most options are 4-star ski resorts or higher.
  • Prices start at approximately 3,000 THB+ (approx. 600 RMB) per night.
  • Booking: Available via Trip.com or Agoda.com.
  • Pro-Tip: If hotels near the main Celebration Plaza are full, try booking near the specific start point for your race distance. There are shuttle buses and Didi (taxi) services available to the main venue.

Essential Tips for Runners

  • Keep Chinese Names Handy: Copy and save the names of your hotel and stations in Chinese characters to show drivers.
  • Translation Support: Have a second phone ready for screen translations (using apps like Google Translate or WeChat’s built-in translator).
